BREAKING NEWS: Bill C-45 Passes Senate Vote June 20 2018

Yesterday the Senate voted to pass Bill C-45, an Act representing cannabis, which will provide legal access to cannabis and control and regulate its production, distribution, and sale. The Senate vote was 52-29 in favour of ending a 90 year prohibition in Canada. The Bill will now move to royal assent, the final step in the legislative process. The Bill comes with a buffer period of 8 to 12 weeks in order to give provinces time to prepare.

During this buffer period it is time to start preparing for these upcoming legislative changes as an employer, if you have not already done so. Updating policies, communicating to all levels of staff, and training employees on the do’s and don’ts will help administer these changes.
